When you can’t pick up, a friendly AI voice assistant answers your line, books appointments, takes messages and puts urgent calls straight through to you. It tells every caller it’s an AI assistant.
What’s included
Answers, books, takes messages and routes urgent calls
“I can’t answer the phone with my hands under someone’s sink.”
“Calls go to voicemail, and hardly anyone leaves a message anymore.”
“After 6 p.m., every call I miss is a job I lose.”
“Our front desk spends half the day answering “What are your hours?””
“An urgent call got buried between sales calls and voicemails.”
“We tried an answering service, and they got half our details wrong.”
What it does on your line
It’s a voice assistant that answers calls on your number, using only the information you approve. Think of it as help with the overflow, not a replacement for your team.
Answers when you can’t
After hours, when the line is busy, or after a few rings. You choose when it picks up, and your number stays the same.
Says it’s an AI assistant
It greets callers with your business name and tells them right away they’re speaking with an AI assistant. They can ask for a person at any time.
Answers the common questions
Hours, address, parking, services, the areas you cover and what to bring, all from facts you approve. It doesn’t guess at prices or give advice.
Books and reschedules
It checks your calendar, books the visit or estimate during the call, and sends the caller a confirmation.
Routes urgent calls
You decide what counts as urgent: a burst pipe, a lockout, a problem on the day of an event. Those calls go straight to your cell or the person on call, not to a message.
Takes messages that make sense
Name, number, what they need and how soon, sent to you by text or email right after the call, with a short summary.
A record you can check
Every call gets a written summary you can read later. If you choose to record calls, the greeting tells callers so.
How it works
1
Learn your calls
1–2 days
We go over the calls you get most, what callers ask, who counts as urgent and where messages should go.
2
Write the script and rules
2–4 days
The greeting, the answers, the booking steps and when to hand off, all in your words. You approve every line.
3
Connect your line and calendar
3–5 days
We set up the assistant’s line, forward your calls to it when you choose, like after hours or after four rings, and connect your calendar.
4
Test with real calls
3–5 days
We call it again and again with real questions, mumbled answers, background noise and urgent cases. Then you call it too.
5
Go live and listen
4 weeks
For the first month we read the call summaries every week, fix answers and adjust where calls get routed.
Answering calls, not making them
This service answers the calls that come in to you. It does not call anyone. Here’s why we draw that line.
AI voices count as artificial voices
In 2024 the FCC confirmed that AI-generated voices fall under the TCPA’s rules for artificial or prerecorded voices. Calls made with them need the other person’s prior consent, with only narrow exceptions.
So we keep it to incoming calls
When someone calls you, they’re asking for help. That’s where an AI voice is useful and welcome. Callbacks come from you or your team, with the message in hand.
Honest from hello
Your assistant tells every caller it’s an AI assistant and offers a person. A few extra seconds in the greeting are worth more than a caller who feels tricked.
Bigger phone setups
A full call center, many locations, or calls placed by AI with proper consent are bigger projects. DPI Enterprise, the larger-project side of DPI, handles that work.
This is general information, not legal advice. Rules on calls and call recording can differ from state to state.
What it costs
Starting at$1,500
Plus from $250/month and call minutes
The starting price covers setup: the script and rules, your information, the assistant’s phone line, forwarding from your number, calendar booking and testing. A monthly fee covers care and changes, and call minutes are billed by use, so a busier line costs more to run.
Yes. It says so in the greeting, and it offers a person whenever the caller asks. We set it up that way for every client.
Do I keep my phone number?
Yes, your number stays the same. Calls are forwarded to the assistant only when you choose, for example after hours or when nobody picks up after a few rings.
What happens with urgent calls?
You tell us what counts as urgent and who should get those calls. The assistant puts them through right away or texts the person on call, instead of just taking a message.
Can the AI receptionist call customers back?
No, it only answers. AI voices count as artificial voices under the TCPA, so calling people with them needs their prior consent. Callbacks come from you, with the message and summary in hand.
Can an AI receptionist answer in Spanish?
Yes. It can be set up to greet and answer in Spanish, and to switch when a caller does. We test every language with real calls before it goes live.
Are the calls recorded?
Only if you want them to be, and then the greeting tells callers. Either way, you get a written summary of every call.
How is this different from an answering service?
An answering service uses people who often cover many businesses at once. This assistant knows only your business, answers at any hour, books straight into your calendar and sends you a summary right after the call. When a call needs a human touch, it puts the caller through to you.
What if we need a full call center?
That’s more than an AI receptionist. DPI Enterprise builds voice systems for larger teams and many locations, and we can introduce you.
